Most people who are in the office really don’t spend all of their time working. Most people have been found to be not working as much as 50% of the time they spend on their offices. This might be okay for people who are not expected to produce a report on their day’s work. Some people who are task oriented such as reporters or anyone who has to accomplish things daily will have certainly wished they could focus more.

Focusing on work while facing the computer and browsing the net is a challenge to anyone. This article explains a popular technique called the 12-minute miracle that will enhance just about anyone’s productivity by more than two times.

Mind Concentrate only in bursts

Humans were not meant to focus for long periods of time. Our hunter ancestors were keener on focusing their highly tuned senses to shorter time frames. Fending off a large predatory animal or even just hunting for meat are examples of tasks that need short burst of concentration.

20th Century Man Needs More Time

The prehistoric man needed quick reflexes, short bursts of energy, concentration and strength to become successful. However times have changed and the modern man needs a lot more time to become successful.

Education and Work Experience have replaced brute strength and sharp reflexes. This presents a problem as evolution has shaped us to focus on shorter time frames. A good way to solve the problem in line with our evolutionary gifts is to focus on long term work at shorter periods of time.

12 Minutes Miracle

This is where the 12 minute miracle comes in. Humans tend to lose their focus after 12 minutes. The thousands of thoughts cluttering our head will creep up to us and interrupt our focus on the task at hand. Linux programmers found out that they could keep their minds off MUD games and net browsing as long as they kept work on 12 minute intervals.

What they did was to break down work to little packets that could be done in 12 minutes or less. If they found the packets taking longer than 12 minutes to do they take a three minute break and return to the work afterwards.

Taking this 3 minute breaks increased productivity tenfold. These are true stories from IT managers in the industry.

A lot of people have claimed enhanced work productivity, happier times at work and even more opportunities for career growth using the 12 minute miracle. Some businessmen swear by it and some Internet Marketing writers have even adopted it in their arsenal of weapons to succeed.

You need to try it and see for yourself how this little trick will enhance your work or business. You’ll find that your work will be easier and gets done in half the time it used to take. You’ll also find your work place less stressful and your boss less despicable.

Cooking is an enjoyable experience for many. Even if it does entail hard work some people absolutely love preparing masterpieces they have developed for years. Many popular fast food chains started out with a person who was passionate enough develop a recipe.

The kitchen however is a serious place to be in. Although you can relax and talk on the phone preparing delicious homemade food takes time and planning at the kitchen. Many people think it takes hours to prepare a dinner worthy of serving to guests. This is because they do not think about productivity in a cooking environment.

Increasing productivity in the kitchen can drastically decrease the time it takes to whip up your masterpieces. Using timers is the best way to improve your productivity at your home kitchen. The use of timers enables you to do many things.

Keeping track and checking to see if your dish is done is easy to do when you have just one dish sitting on the stove top. However, cooking two or three dishes at the same time can spell disaster if you do not have a timer.

It will be practically impossible to cook all three dishes perfectly if you have to keep checking them regularly. A couple of timers would allow you to chop and prepare other ingredients while the dishes are cooking. Knowing when you should do the next step of your cooking builds confidence and allows you to multitask in the kitchen.

One of the greatest ways to improve your productivity in the kitchen is by actually being outside of it. The less time you spend being actually inside the kitchen the better. If you have to prepare the table, tend to your crying baby or want to check your email while cooking a timer will ensure that you will not forget when to get back.

Once you hear the alarm go off you simply go back in and do the next step on your recipe book. Some chefs even use timers while preparing for cooking. For example they set the timer to 5 minutes and finish chopping all vegetables and spices within the allotted time. This way the chefs make sure that they are making the most out of their time inside the kitchen.

Increasing productivity in the kitchen reduces stress by ensuring that you go about doing your cooking job efficiently. It might sound strange to some people but the best food is prepared not only with love but also with careful planning and productivity.

Pie writes about cooking and spends several hours a day in the kitchen. Take a look at what she had to say about a Digital Egg Timer. Additionally you can see her choice of the Best Kitchen Timer in a roundup she made.

A story comes in, I do my research, conduct the interviews, and then write the story – all usually within a day’s time. However, deadlines do not just apply to my freelance work. Deadlines apply to every single aspect of my life. I’m on deadline as a teacher – preparing lesson plans in time for class to start. I’m on deadline as a mom – rushing to get to soccer practices and dance lessons by the time each one starts. I’m on deadline as a home owner – keeping the house clean, the family fed, and the dog away from our valuables. Deadlines are draining and sometimes a royal pain.
